BresBet, at bresbet.com, is a British bookmaker with an unusually visible footprint in horse racing for its size. It launched at the end of 2021 as a white label, running on Playbook Engineering's website technology and operating licence, and spent its first three years building the brand through sponsorship across horseracing and greyhound racing, including as the leading sponsor at trainer Fergal O'Brien's Gloucestershire stable. In March 2025 it announced the step most white labels never take: a move onto its own UK Gambling Commission operating licence, account 65252, with owner Nic Brereton describing the change as the company becoming more independent, bringing compliance, customer service and trading in-house. The August 2026 suspension

On 28 August 2026 the Gambling Commission suspended BresBet's operating licence, and with it the licence of a second operator, Bet St George Ltd, which runs betstgeorge.com. The Commission said its inquiries had revealed suspected social responsibility and anti-money-laundering failings, and that it was reviewing both licences under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005, with the suspensions remaining in place until it is satisfied the businesses are compliant. Two things in the announcement matter as much as the headline. First, this is a suspension pending review, not a concluded finding: the register's actions page for BresBet, checked three days later, still records no concluded sanction, and eighteen months earlier the licence had no enforcement history at all. Second, the Commission was explicit that the suspension does not prevent either operator from letting customers access their accounts and withdraw funds, and that both are expected to treat consumers fairly and keep them fully informed while the review runs.
