20Bet is an online casino and sportsbook brand that launched in 2020 and is part of a wider stable of offshore gambling sites. It offers slots, live-dealer tables and a betting platform aimed at a broad international market, and markets itself as available in more than a hundred countries. The brand sits alongside sister sites such as 22Bet, Bizzo Casino, National Casino, DragonSlots, Betlabel and Safe Casino, all run by the same group, which has been active in the iGaming market since 2018. For UK players the important point is that 20Bet is an offshore operation: it is built and licensed for jurisdictions outside the United Kingdom, and the protections a UK-licensed site would have to provide do not apply here.

Ownership and corporate structure

20Bet is operated by TechSolutions Group N.V., a Curacao company formerly known as Techoptions Group N.V. and registered in Willemstad at Abraham Mendez Chumaceiro Boulevard 50. The same group operates the brand sister sites. Public records and review sites also point to a registration number 144920 linked to a Cyprus entity used as the contracting and payments vehicle behind the brand, which is a common structure for offshore casinos where the licence holder, the website operator and the company that takes your money are not always the same legal person; sources themselves differ on whether that number sits in Cyprus or Curacao. That layered structure matters for anyone trying to recover funds, because it can be unclear which entity is actually responsible for a balance, and the controlling company sits outside the UK.

Licence and UK position

20Bet holds a Curacao licence. The original authorisation traces to the Curacao master-licence system under number 8048/JAZ2017-067, issued on 16 November 2018, and under Curacao reformed framework the group references a direct Curacao Gaming Authority licence (reference OGL/2024/590/0758). Some review materials also reference a Kahnawake Gaming Commission licence and an Estonia licence. Crucially, 20Bet holds no UK Gambling Commission licence. The brand own terms and conditions list the United Kingdom, shown as Great Britain, among restricted countries, so it is not intended to accept UK customers. Because it is not UK-regulated, it is not part of GamStop, and UK safer-gambling rules on affordability checks, deposit limits and self-exclusion are not enforceable against it in the way they would be against a UKGC-licensed operator.

If the amount is large

Two things tend to happen at once when a 20Bet balance gets large. The 20Bet account goes quiet on the commercial side, with a 20Bet host who replied in minutes now slow or silent, and 20Bet withdrawal caps that were irrelevant on a £500 / $650 payout suddenly shaping how long a £50,000 / $65,000 balance takes to leave. On the compliance side the Curaçao anti-money-laundering regulations of January 2025 that bind 20Bet come into play: 20Bet must carry out customer due diligence once your transactions reach NAf 4,000, roughly £1,700 / $2,200, calculated daily across every deposit and withdrawal since the 20Bet account was opened. Where you are playing from

The route against 20Bet is set by Curaçao law, not by where you live. Start with a written complaint to 20Bet: the LOK gives you six months from the incident, costs nothing, and obliges 20Bet to acknowledge within a week and answer within four weeks, with one four-week extension allowed to 20Bet. Unresolved, the LOK requires a licensee to offer alternative dispute resolution at its own expense and the Authority requires that body to be a CGA-certified one, on a timetable it expects to run no longer than 90 days; a licensee that has not engaged a certified provider is short of that requirement rather than outside it. Copy complaints@cga.cw: the Curaçao Gaming Authority will not decide your 20Bet case or award compensation, but it uses complaints to police the 20Bet licence. The final step against 20Bet is the Curaçao court, because Article 5.5 obliges a licensee to write Curaçao law and the Curaçao courts into the gaming agreement, and the old civil-code bar on gambling claims no longer applies to claims against a licensee.

If you are in the United States

For a United States player the domestic picture on 20Bet is short: gambling is regulated by each state, 20Bet is licensed by none of them, and the 50 state attorneys general who wrote to the Department of Justice in August 2025 described offshore platforms as operating without proper licensure and evading state regulation, which is the class 20Bet falls into. Record the 20Bet dispute with your state consumer protection office or attorney general, but expect no refund of the 20Bet balance from that channel. If you are in the EU

Austria and Germany are the two EU markets where courts have recognised a refund claim against an operator like 20Bet with no domestic licence. The Austrian Supreme Court settled it in 1 Ob 229/20p: no Austrian concession, no effective contract, stake repayable, which is what an Austrian 20Bet player relies on. In Germany the Court of Justice of the EU (Case C-440/23, 16 April 2026) confirmed that such restitution claims are compatible with EU law, which is the ground an EU 20Bet player stands on, on facts involving Malta-licensed operators rather than 20Bet; the Federal Court of Justice’s lead decision, I ZR 216/25, is pending after a hearing on 17 September 2026, so a German 20Bet claim is not yet settled law. The Netherlands is different: since the Hoge Raad’s ruling of 3 July 2026 an unlicensed operator’s contracts, those of 20Bet included, are not automatically void, so a Dutch 20Bet player has no automatic refund and only a case-by-case claim against 20Bet. Outside those three countries we have found no sourced domestic route against 20Bet, and against 20Bet the Curaçao route above applies.

If you are in Canada or Australia

In Canada the only regulator with a player-dispute process is Ontario’s, and it reaches Ontario-registered sites only, so it does not reach 20Bet: the AGCO says it cannot get your money back from 20Bet and only assists with disputes about regulated sites, and iGaming Ontario has no legal relationship with unregulated operators and cannot refund wagers. Every other province runs a government monopoly, and we have found no domestic route against 20Bet there. In Australia the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 bans online casinos outright; ACMA accepts complaints about breaches but says plainly that Australian regulators cannot help if an overseas site such as 20Bet withholds your winnings, and points 20Bet players back to the licensing authority abroad. For 20Bet that means the Curaçao route above.

If you are in the UK

In Great Britain any operator serving consumers needs a Gambling Commission operating licence regardless of where it is based, and 20Bet does not hold one, so nothing in that framework binds 20Bet. The consequences for a 20Bet player are practical: GAMSTOP only covers GB-licensed operators, so a self-exclusion did not block 20Bet; the ADR duty in the Commission’s licence conditions binds Commission licensees only, which does not include 20Bet, and IBAS adjudicates only against operators registered with it, so no UK adjudicator can hear a 20Bet dispute; and the Commission itself says it has no power to resolve individual complaints or recover money from 20Bet, though it takes reports of unlicensed sites at intelligencereports@gamblingcommission.gov.uk.
