Licence and UK position

Vavada operates under a Curacao gaming licence. Its position changed with the territory's regulatory reform: Curacao's National Ordinance on Games of Chance (LOK) came into force on 24 December 2024, replacing the previous system of four master licence holders, who issued sub-licences, with a single government issuer, the Curacao Gaming Authority. Legacy sub-licences issued under the old framework expired during the 2025 transition, and brands operating on those permits moved across to the new regime.

Vavada is not licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, and the brand does not accept players from the United Kingdom. Its terms restrict the UK and the United States among more than 150 territories worldwide. Because it holds no UKGC licence, it sits outside the protections and dispute routes available to customers of operators licensed in Great Britain.

Withdrawals and verification

Vavada uses risk-based verification rather than mandatory upfront identity checks. According to its published terms, verification can be requested before a withdrawal or during a risk review, which can introduce friction at a player's first payout. The operator states that withdrawals are processed within a window of several minutes to 24 hours, including at weekends, with limits that depend on account status and the chosen method.

Copycat sites using the Vavada name

Casino.guru lists separate websites that trade on the Vavada name, identified as 'Vavada Kings Casino' and 'Vavada Gates Casino', as scams with a Safety Index of 0.0. The platform warns that these sites present a fake licence and demand fabricated charges before paying out. Players identified them as phishing clones after contacting the genuine Vavada, and the platform flags them as impersonators distinct from the licensed brand.

Is Vavada withholding a withdrawal?

The playbook for a stalled Vavada payout is in what to do when a casino withholds your winnings. Where the sum is substantial, a voided win, a confiscated balance or a withdrawal Vavada will not release, our withheld winnings service sets out the evidence that matters and when a specialist assessment of a Vavada case is proportionate.

What the record shows

Our research found no substantiated public regulatory or court action against Vavada. This file reflects licence and status records only, and is not a suggestion of wrongdoing.

Is Vavada legit?

"Legit" needs unpacking. Vavada holds licence OGL/2024/252/0153 and is recorded as licensed under Curacao Gaming Authority (CGA). Our research found no substantiated regulator or court action against Vavada. No UK Gambling Commission licence is recorded for it, so GamStop and the UK dispute framework do not apply, which matters more than any review score if something goes wrong. A licence is not a promise that players are treated fairly. You can verify a Curaçao licence yourself against the CGA's official register with our free licence checker.

Complaints about Vavada

On AskGamblers, players report several recurring themes against Vavada. These include withdrawals delayed beyond the operator's stated 24-hour window, an account blocked while holding a four-figure win, and a promotional bonus denied without an explanation being given. These are player accounts recorded by the review platform rather than proven findings, and the operator has responded to such reports.

A complaint about Vavada should go to Vavada itself first, in writing, through the complaints channel it publishes or its support address where it publishes none, with every reply kept. If Vavada does not resolve it, escalation points at Curacao Gaming Authority (CGA), and in practice the pressure comes from the evidence your own records support. The sequence is set out in how to escalate a casino complaint.

What the licence requires

Vavada is regulated by Curacao Gaming Authority (CGA) under licence OGL/2024/252/0153, and no UK Gambling Commission licence is recorded for it, so GamStop and the UK dispute-resolution framework do not apply. Read more on how Curaçao casino law works.

If you are trying to recover money

Because Vavada is licensed in Curaçao and not by the UK Gambling Commission, no UK adjudicator can order a refund, so recovery runs as a claim built on Vavada's own complaints process and contractual terms, taken forward with a regulated legal partner where the evidence supports it. Preserve your account evidence first, then see how gambling-loss recovery works, the evidence you need to recover losses, and how to escalate a casino complaint.

Check whether Vavada appears on the Curaçao enforcement register before you write.

Two guides carry the detail for a Curaçao brand like Vavada. Getting your money back from a Curaçao casino sets out the complaint order and what the regulator can realistically do about Vavada. Where you had self-excluded with Vavada and it kept taking deposits, read what a failed self-exclusion is worth. The free complaint route finder maps the order for you.

If the amount is large

A five or six figure balance at Vavada is handled differently from a small one, and the Curaçao rules explain why. Under the Gaming Authority’s anti-money-laundering regulations of January 2025, Vavada must carry out customer due diligence once your financial transactions reach NAf 4,000, roughly £1,700 / $2,200, counted cumulatively across every deposit and withdrawal since you opened the Vavada account rather than transaction by transaction. Where that threshold is crossed because you asked to withdraw, the regulations require Vavada to freeze the account completely until your documents reach Vavada. They also set a limit the other way: if Vavada has not received the information within 30 days of the threshold being reached, it must end the Vavada relationship, and where no presumption of money laundering exists the funds are to be transferred to you. Higher-risk Vavada accounts attract enhanced due diligence, which is where the Vavada requests for source of funds and source of wealth come from, covering savings, employment income, property sales, dividends, inheritances and earlier gambling winnings. The Vavada commercial treatment usually shifts alongside the compliance one: the Vavada host who answered within minutes goes quiet, and Vavada withdrawal limits that never mattered on a £500 / $650 payout start to govern a £50,000 / $65,000 one. Where the Vavada account is frozen, the escalation route is set out under Where you are playing from.

Where you are playing from

The route against Vavada is set by Curaçao law, not by where you live. Start with a written complaint to Vavada: the LOK gives you six months from the incident, costs nothing, and obliges Vavada to acknowledge within a week and answer within four weeks, with one four-week extension allowed to Vavada. Unresolved, the LOK requires a licensee to offer alternative dispute resolution at its own expense and the Authority requires that body to be a CGA-certified one, on a timetable it expects to run no longer than 90 days; a licensee that has not engaged a certified provider is short of that requirement rather than outside it. Copy complaints@cga.cw: the Curaçao Gaming Authority will not decide your Vavada case or award compensation, but it uses complaints to police the Vavada licence. The final step against Vavada is the Curaçao court, because Article 5.5 obliges a licensee to write Curaçao law and the Curaçao courts into the gaming agreement, and the old civil-code bar on gambling claims no longer applies to claims against a licensee.

If you are in the United States

There is no state regulator standing behind Vavada for a United States player: online gambling is licensed state by state and an offshore site like Vavada holds no state licence, so nothing in state law reaches your Vavada balance. In August 2025 a coalition of 50 state attorneys general asked the Department of Justice to block offshore platforms and their payment systems under the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which is enforcement rather than a route to the money Vavada holds. Your state consumer protection office or attorney general can log the Vavada dispute. The route that reaches Vavada itself is the one attached to the Vavada licence: the Curaçao route above.

If you are in the EU

Two EU countries have court-recognised refund routes against an operator like Vavada with no domestic licence. Austria’s Supreme Court held in 1 Ob 229/20p that contracts with a provider lacking an Austrian concession are ineffective and the stake is repayable, which is the position an Austrian Vavada player would rely on. For a German Vavada player the Court of Justice of the EU confirmed in Case C-440/23 (16 April 2026) that a player may claim restitution of stakes lost with an operator like Vavada where the games were prohibited at home; that case concerned Malta-licensed operators rather than Vavada, and the Federal Court of Justice’s lead decision, I ZR 216/25, is still pending, with a hearing listed for 17 September 2026, so a German Vavada claim is not yet settled law. The Netherlands went the other way for a Vavada player: on 3 July 2026 the Hoge Raad ruled that an unlicensed operator’s contracts are not automatically void, so a Dutch Vavada player has no automatic refund, only case-by-case claims against Vavada for mistake or in tort. Elsewhere in the EU we have found no sourced domestic route against Vavada, so against Vavada the Curaçao route above applies.

If you are in Canada or Australia

In Canada the only regulator with a player-dispute process is Ontario’s, and it reaches Ontario-registered sites only, so it does not reach Vavada: the AGCO says it cannot get your money back from Vavada and only assists with disputes about regulated sites, and iGaming Ontario has no legal relationship with unregulated operators and cannot refund wagers. Every other province runs a government monopoly, and we have found no domestic route against Vavada there. In Australia the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 bans online casinos outright; ACMA accepts complaints about breaches but says plainly that Australian regulators cannot help if an overseas site such as Vavada withholds your winnings, and points Vavada players back to the licensing authority abroad. For Vavada that means the Curaçao route above.

If you are in the UK

Being in the UK adds no route against Vavada, because Vavada holds no Gambling Commission licence and the Commission’s protections travel with the licence, not the player. GAMSTOP covers only operators licensed in Great Britain, so it did not block Vavada. The ADR duty binds Commission licensees only, which Vavada is not, and IBAS adjudicates only disputes with operators registered with it, a registration this file does not record for Vavada. The Commission has no powers to resolve individual gambling complaints or help consumers get their money back from Vavada, and instead asks for unlicensed sites to be reported to intelligencereports@gamblingcommission.gov.uk. The route open to you against Vavada is the Curaçao route above, the one attached to the Vavada licence.

FAQ

Common questions about Vavada

Can I get my money back from Vavada?

Possibly. Vavada is licensed in Curaçao, outside the UK system, so no UK adjudicator can order a refund. Recovery instead works through the operator's own complaints process, the evidence your payment history supports, and where appropriate a regulated legal partner. The right route depends on your evidence, and our initial assessment is free and confidential.

Preserve the evidence first: screenshot your balance, the stuck withdrawal, chat transcripts and emails, and save the terms as they read today. Then make one formal written complaint and escalate to the right authority or a regulated legal partner. Avoid closing the account or accepting a partial settlement before you have taken advice.

No. Nothing is sent to any operator without your written consent. The first an operator hears of your case is a formal complaint you have approved.
